I am working in a commercial bldg and the lights are controlled by relays (addressable and PC monitored/controlled). The areas are two offices and bathrooms. The relay is first, which feeds an occ sensor then to switches in wall. Does the possibility of the relay killing the power to the switch still matter as far as the code requirements for switches within 6? feet of a door? Where in the code book would I find this?

There is no NEC requirement for a switch to be within 6' of a door and no NEC requirement for any switches in a office building.

You won't, that not in the NEC. Check your local building codes. Certain buildings over xxxx ft? need to have automatic shutoff of lighting. Having the control relay ahead of the switch is perfectly acceptable.

I believe I heard that with residential and have not separated
the idea with com. sorry and thanks
