Hi gentlemen,
I need to know the nubmer of fluorescent lightings required for A 2800 sq.ft switchgear room . Currently there are two 20 Amp circuits feeding (2x40Watts=80 Watts) x 19 locaions. Circuit #1 is feeding (2x40watts) x 10 locations, and Circuit #2 is feeding (2x40watts) x 9 locations. I am planning to replace these existing lighting fixtures with 4x40 watts. Thanks again and appreciate your support

sincerely yours,
salahaas

Re: Switchgear Lighting

The NAIES sets recommended lighting lebels for various applications. Use a lighting calculation program and the IES standards to calculate light levels. Of course you'd have to specify ceiling height, number and location of luminaires, objects in room, reflectances, etc. Lithonia has a free lighting program that can help. It's very basic but would work for this project I think. Or try giving the info to a lighting rep. and make them do the calcs. If you're installing new I would think a chain hung industrial T8 luminaire would suit this application. Why do you want 4-bys? Why not 2-bys hung where you need the light?

Best of luck.
