Would anyone know what breakers are compatible with sylvania breakers. I thought that Eaton Br were, but I've been told no by inspector. Thanks John

Sylvania had two lines of breakers, the Type C (or C-Line), and they had bought Zinsco. So assuming you mean the Type C, that became the Challenger C-Line, then when Eaton bought Westinghouse and got Challenger in the deal, Eaton absorbed only that breaker line from Challenger and made it their “CL Line” of “classified” breakers, which means they are listed for use in Sylvania, Challenger, Bryant/Westinghouse, Murray, Siemens, ITE, Crouse-Hinds and T&B panels, because Sylvania had already paid for the testing in all those panels.

But also at the same time, Eaton paid to have their BR line of breakers cross listed in Challenger / Sylvania Type C panels as well, so that they did not have to pay to develop a GFCI/AFCI breaker for those panels. So if you look on the BR breakers, they say “Type C” on them, meaning Trey ARE listed for use in Type C panels.
