Here in the US, Sylvania became Challenger, I think they were Commander in Canada, but I have no clue whether CSA has anything like UL classifying competitive makes of circuit breakers to be used in another manufacturers loadcenter.

I think Sylvania has their hands in a lot of panels of different pedigree, so the panel type matters. What are the approved breaker types listed on the label for that panel?

I have a Challenger panel, and I found documentation that CH BR breakers are an authorized replacement. Whether you can use a quad breaker is another question -- does the panel schematic show a number of poles that makes sense for quads (e.g. showing 40 poles and there are only 20 or 30 slots)? If it is a 40 slot panel, then it was not approved for any tandem breakers.

Looks like you have aluminum wire to contend with too.

I believe that CH owns Sylvania/Challenger, but in either instance the listed breakers for that should be designated in the information sheet on the panel door.

The breakers that are pictured are the Canadian Commander breakers (like norcal referred in an earlier post). These should not be confused with the Type 'C' breakers found in the US. They are a completely different breaker design.
