Sylvania panel approved breakers

Are eaton BR breakers approved in older Sylvania panels? Have a customer who's insurance company is only requiring the breakers be replaced. I've heard the challenger panels are only required to replace breakers but haven't heard of that with Sylvania until now.

With rare exception, yes. Possibly Siemens, too.

BR is also OEM for Challenger, but since Sylvania is the predecessor to Challenger, it should be but have no proof, Eaton CL is UL classified for most manufacturers panels,


EatonBreakers012412.pdf I don't know if this link will work but it does not mention Sylvania. If the circuit breaker catalog numbers are unchanged from the GTE Sylvania era, that might be a workaround, but would not hold my breath.

Remember that breakers are listed by type, not brand. If the panel label is still there, look at it.
