My understanding of symmetrical components is that it involves unbalanced loads or generation. Inverters are current sources that follow grid voltage and they inject equal current into all 3 phases. So there should be no unbalanced generation from a 3 phase inverter. I am helping a customer fill out an interconnection application with Duke Energy where they are asking for positive, negative, and zero sequence components of the inverter. My explanation to the customer is that the inverter only has positive sequence components.
