System grounding for dettached bldg

Hi ,
the 400A residential service is located at the corner of the property, stand alone, dettached;

if I install a 400A distribution panel with main on the exterior wall of the house, do I need to system-ground it
as well as the main 400A stand alone service????
two sys. grounding in one property?????

400A service disconnecting means (ref: stand-alone, corner of property) is where the Main Bonding Jumper is installed.

At the 400A MDP on house exterior is where you connect the building grounding electrode system to the EGC. Maintain EGC and grounded [neutral] separation at the MDP.

Is there a service disconnect at the corner or just a meter? Generally speaking, every structure served needs a disconnect and a grounding electrode system so yes you could have multiple GES on a property.

Thanks, I was going to bring that up.

It seems the need for a grounding electrode system at a simple service pedestal varies by area. Some will say that the pedestal is not 'served' because it does not use electricity. I disagree with that but I also see it as a reasonable interpretation.

IMO the NEC has required GES at a pedestal, things may have changed with the new definition of structure. I have not really put any thought into it yet.

Yeah, I would have to look over the wording again to offer a more thorough opinion. Also, I have seen POCOS requires a GES at a pedestal with no disconnect.
