According to the NEC, one of the installations that should not have SYSTEM GROUNDING is a systems supplying power to health care facilities. For details, the NEC refers to Article 517.

I have been reading this article and have found that it is allowing to have insolated grounding conductors in patient areas, but I have not seen the requirement for having an UNGROUNDED SYSTEM.

Any light in this issue?

Thanks

517.160 Note this is not an NEC requirement but only an optional method.

I think this type of system was more important in the days of flammable anesthesia although there are direct advantages for the patient also.

Some states are opting not to require ISO systems.
