We have low voltage smoke detect in t-bar ceiling, EMT is ran close to each outlet then we are connecting FMC to EMT . FMC is far less then 6' in lengths. Can i use 348.30 exception No.4. Lengths not exceeding 6' from the last strap within accessible ceiling. The last strap is on the EMT just before the transition to FMC

Thats what the spects call for. We are just running the conduit for the low volt guys , they will pull the wire after

Sounds good to me. Why are you running fire alarm cable in conduit?

There is one particular engineer in my state that gets a lot of the work I do.... they always require red EMT even above ceilings. They also spec that we have to paint all junction boxes and covers red, as well as paint the circuit breaker for the FACP red. Seems like a lot of overkill to me.

My FA sub just runs THHN in the conduit.

I think the red conduit, jbox covers, etc. is a UFC requirement (United Facilities Criteria - applies to DOD and possibly other government agencies).

Red conduit might be overkill, but red junction box covers and striping the conduit is a good idea.
