T - bar fixtures. 2x4 lay-ins. Is the 4 integral clips on the fixture suffice to code 410-16c? This is the type that has to be bent from the fixture over the ceiling grid. They're pretty flimsy and unreliable, especially in a shaker out here in La. I always would use 4 tek screws to the grid. I have a contractor here that says the integral ones are fine but the manufacturer will not say either way if they back thyem in a shaker.

I cannot imagine why the would not meet the NEC's minimum requirements if the light fixtures are listed for use in suspended ceilings. 410.16(C) also states that the ceiling members must be securely attached to each other and to the building structure. You may want to check local code requirements and any job specs.

Re: T bar fixtures

blt,

The 97 UBC and, I presume, the CBC require that, in addition to being secured to the T-bar, each fixture be supported by two #12 hanger wires to the structural ceiling above. That makes me feel a little better about the flimsy integral clips
