Our company wants to replace T8's with T5 lights . Just wondering if glare will be a problem .This is a manufacturing building ,lights will be 4 lamps ,open face ,hung no more than 16 feet high . ???????????????

not easy to answer that question. Do workers look up into the lights to perform work ? Do they look down onto polished or reflective tables ? there are many variables.

Not if it isn't now. T-5's are merely smaller in diameter and slightly brighter than T-8's.

Slightly brighter?

Typical 32w T8 = about 3200-4200 lumen's
Typical 54w T5 = about 10,000- 12,000 lumen's?
Maybe at the end of life of the bulb, but when there new they are bright.
We just installed 4 lamp T5's in a small warehouse in place of the existing T8's and the customer paid us to go back and remove every other fixture lol

Boy do I want to back up a little,

while RUUD did list the amount of lumen's of there T5 high bays high, but it's more because of the polished reflector's surrounding each lamp, the average lumen's of a 54w T5HO is only 4400-6500
and a 32w T8 is 1900-3200
whoops:cool:
