In UL 486A and 486B, Table 21 shows A and B columns. For example, for AWG 30-10 the torque for A column is 15 lbf/in.....the torque for B column is 20 lbf/in. What do the A and B columns represent?

This table is for engineers who design electrical equipment and connectors. Table 21 specifies tightening torques for testing the voltage and current withstand of the termination.

Column A is designated for the current cycling test, whereas column B is for all other tests.

If you're an electrician in the field, all you need to know is the torque specification printed on the lug!
