Can I use the ampacity figures in table 310.15(B)(7) to comply with the conductor ampacity requirement of 705.12(D)(2) for a feeder to a dwelling?
IMO, yes... provided the service or main feeder complies with all of 310.15(B)(7).Can I use the ampacity figures in table 310.15(B)(7) to comply with the conductor ampacity requirement of 705.12(D)(2) for a feeder to a dwelling?

I believe so. It would still be a main feeder, as it will still serve all the loads associated with the dwelling. "Solar" isn't a load, is it? However, I don't believe you can actually "tap" the feeder... you'd have to splice it with the same-rated size to comply with the "120% rule".Smart$, here's a question for you. Suppose the main feeder is tapped (load side) to a fused disco for the solar. Does it still comply with all of 310.15(B)(7)?
