I'm currently studying the Stallcup's Master Electrician's Study Guide. Most of this book has been a review, but I'm stuck on tables 312.6 (A), and 312.6 (B). Can anyone elaborate on these tables. Being a journeyman I'm embarrassed to admit it, but I'm not sure the difference between them.

If you do not mind writing in your code book, here is some advice.

Table 312.6(A)
On the top of the page just above the title of the table write this:

" Conductors not leaving or entering opposite wall - Gutter Space"

Table 312.6(B)
On the top of the page just above the title of the table write this:
"conductors leaving or entering opposite wall - Straight in"

does this help? If not let me know, and I will elaborate further.

Thanks, I would appreciate it. I have read 312.6 (B) (1) and (2) over and over. I'm just not getting it.

Here are a few pictures that I hope will help you to understand Tables 312.6(A)&(B) a little more.

These pictures show Table 312.6(A). As you can see the supply conductors to the panel enter a wall of the panel that is not OPPOSITE of the lugs they have been terminated to.

This picture shows Table 312.6(B). As you can see the supply conductors enter the panel directly opposite from the lugs they have been terminated to.

The last picture shows both tables. As you can see one set is entering the enclosure and one set is leaving the enclosure. The set on the top side of the actual disconnect is Table 312.6(B), and the set on the left side of the disconnect is Table 312.6(A).

I just can't type that much....

Actually, it helped ME understand more clearly.
