Can I daisey chain a 100 amp 480v, 3 phase feeder to multiple machines and tap the feeder at each machine with a set of #10's and terminate onto a 30 amp disconnect adjacent to the J Box where the tap will be made? Equipment loads at each machine less than 30 amps. If legal, does this disconnect have to be fused?
The feeder will serve auxilliary outlets mounted on a press.

Generally speaking, you can install as described. You would need to follow the guidelines in the appropriate 240.21(B) tap rule so you would need to size the tap accordingly and, yes, the disconnect at the end of the tap would need to be fusible.

Thanks augie. I was told that all of the disconnects would have to be 100 amps... and I thought that I could use a 30 amp disconnect. Tap conductors will be about 5 feet long.
