Tbar ceiling vs flexible cords

Two question related with two examples
1) A video screen controller is mounted above a tbar ceiling and the screen is just below it. Can you run flexible cord down through the tbar to feed the screen or do you have to mount a jbox in the tbar above the screen to feed it. I believe the code says no but I am wondering why in this case.

2) Can you mount a 120 volt receptacle above the tbar ceiling for the power cord on a projector? In this example the power cord runs up through the pole that the projector is mounted on and plugs in just above the ceiling. Or, do you have to install a jbox in the tbar ceiling and install a receptacle in that?

1. if it is a communications/control cord or manufacturer's assembled interconnect cord, it may not be subject to any prohibitions.
2. If it is a manufactured power cord for the projector, some (MH included) feel that it is not covered by the prohibition in flexible cord wiring. Others (including maybe your AHJ) feel differently. Play it safe and mount the receptacle in the ceiling. Makes it easier to disconnect anyway. And if directly above the projector it may not even look bad.

I may of seen a code change for the 2017 NEC that covers the power cord issue.
