Does anyone happen to know if TC cable is available with XHHW conductors? I know Southwire makes one version with XHHW -2, but we haven't been able to find any that make it with regular XHHW.

Jeff -

I don't have an answer. I don't think I have seen a piece of xhhw in the last ten years (maybe 20?) that wasn't -2.

However, I am curious as to why you would want xhhw over xhhw-2.

I'm assuming there's a price difference between TC cable made with XHHW vs that made with XHHW -2. My thinking is that if the price difference is significant, there's no reason to spec XHHW -2 if it's going to go into a dry location. But if TC cable doesn't come with plain XHHW, it doesn't make any difference; we'll just spec TC made with XHHW -2.

I've never dealt with TC cable before, so I don't know all the varieties it comes in. I bought/installed XHHW as an electrician, but I never paid much attention to the jacket to see if it had a -2 on it.

If it's just a mater of what you spec, write in XHHW/XHHW-2, leaving it open-ended.
