TC-ER Cable

Hey y’all- Gotta question on TC-ER. Was on a service call today to run a new 50 AMP circuit for a new double oven range. Guy asked that I use some Tray Cable wire that he already has. If supported, exposed, or run in pvc conduit, could this be used in a residential setting? Thoughts?

My read on Art 336 (2017) would be that in a residential setting, it could be used if installed in a raceway.
There are now provisions for TC-ER-JP in residential but it's for a combination power/control cable normally for generators or mini-splits,
(2020 may be different)
