I work with a company that does control, signal communications installations (PLC's, control panels and such). We fabricate the panels at our shop and install out in the field. I know that doesn't count as electrical work since its industrial network systems, but if you have to run a 120VAC circuit to power up your panel, does that require you to have a TECL????? The company is bonded 3x than the TDLR minimal insurance coverage.

I've looked all over City of Houston Electrical Division rules, and TDLR, and I can't seem to get a clear answer .

Any thoughts would greatly be appreciated!!

Thanks!

TECL = Texas Electrical Contractors License?

My guess is that all of the field work you are doing is supposed to be done by someone with a TECL if you are an outside organization coming in to a location and doing this kind of work.

How do you get a permit without a contractor license?
