Hi,
Couple of questions?
Can a licensed 09 install teleconferencing equipment in a classroom or conference room?
(Washington State)

PWM UL power supplies, can they be mounted above ceiling tile to power the POLYCOM cameras? Power cables are to short to hide them anywhere else in the room.

How do I know if manufactured molded un marked cables can be installed above the ceiling tile in the same room as the equipment? Again POLYCOM solution, their approved cables.

Sincerely,
Fred Marion

Hi Fred, I edited out your email address. Someone can PM you for a question.
All: there are spammers who search the internet for the @ symbol and then use that address for sending email from. This is the reason we don't allow email addresses. I had my email taken and used as spam and I had over 43,000 emails at my ISP.

Re: Teleconferencing (POLYCOM)

Fred: you need to look in chapter 296-46B section 920 for the scope of work allowed for 09. Its defined in terms of what you can't do. If its not listed then you can do the work.
I hope you are using Class B Lables, you can now use a Class B for any telecom work, for an entire building it will be only $10.00
As far as the Polycom, NEC Art 400 prohibits portable cords above a suspended ceiling. Doesn't matter if the equipment is listed, labled and approved. Cords can't be concealed above a celing or similar.

Tom,
As I understand it. An O1 installed electrical outlets at the locations for the cameras and projectors above the ceiling tile. These need to be moved in accordance to NEC 400 to the surface of the ceiling tile or onto the wall next to the cameras.

Correct?

Fred
