Re: Telephone/Cable

I just started the addition I bid on last month. I'm starting to get a lot of extras. One extra is to do the telephone and cable. About how much should I charge per cable outlet? per telephone outlet?

Congrats frank!
I sell tele & cable jacks at $150 per location - all home runs.
As an "incentive", I charge $175 per location for a Sat/Dish home run - it's just a phone line along with the coax. Cost for us is really just the extra phone line and dual plate.
I will try and get the customer to think forward...
- you have a 4 BR home
- there's you and your wife
- 2 children and another on the way
At
some point, every one will want to be on the phone at the same time. If I run them all as home runs, adding a different/new number is just a phone call away( - to Verizon) without ever having to open a wall or jack, or having "someone" staple unsightly wires on your baseboards and around door frames.
After accepting/decling this pitch....I launch into the "home networking" pitch. Same speech, just change "on the phone" to "on the computer", change the tele. wire to Cat5e (or 6 if available) and bump the price $25 per location.
Some people opt for the wireless alternative...but still want one jack on the network for the home office.
