I am wondering if there is any code that stipulates that telephone equipment can not be in an electrical room. Assuming that the electrical equipment like MDP's, Power panel have proper spacing. Can the telephone equipment share the same room.

We share them all the time. I don't know any code that would prevent this.

Re: Telephone equipment in Electrical Room

The old electrical/ telephone rooms have major workspace issues because of modern tele. equipment that sticks too far out of the wall and infringes on workspace in front of a panelboard. Violation of 110.26. They just are not big enough. The more modern ones have enough room, and rarley do we have infringement.

Re: Telephone equipment in Electrical Room

The only problem I keep running into is whoever is designing buildings in my area keep asking for more and more provisional space for future equipment (larger panels or data racks) and making the electrical or data/telephone rooms smaller and smaller. It's nice to have a little more room than bare minimum code spacing. I've also heard the same complaints from plumbing and heating contractors. The equipment fits, just hope you don't need to pull anything out in a few years.
