I have a residential job I wired. Hot comes into switch connects to 3 way dimmer, travelers to other location (about 15' away) to a regular switch then switch leg comes back and up to light. The situation, there is always 3.4v coming back on the traveler that should be off. Whats is happening?

That's normal as you often get voltage thru a dimmer even when it is off. Don't loose sleep over it. :)

what kind of meter are you using? like dennis said thats probably the case but if you ever work on regular 3 ways and get a voltage on the dead traveler you are more than likely using a high impedance meter and seeing phantom voltage. use a wiggy or the loz function of a DMM :)
