The homeowner is not poor at all. Him and his wife are both psychologists. They appeared to be remodeling an old garage into a house. He had wood lap siding on the building that he wanted the carpenters to take off and turn around so the now "good" side would be on the exterior. Where he had mounted the meterbase on the outside he had cut a space roughly the size it needed to be with a chainsaw (the carpenters told me) so the meter would sit flat on the sheeting behind the sideing,it looked terrible. I talked to him briefly on the phone and he said he wanted to pull all the wire himself and for me to just hook it up so he could save money.

um...... R-U-N. (the other way)
any questions?

i mentioned on another post that i have this wonderful voicemail on
my work phone that you can select personalized greetings for specific
callers, based on their phone number, and how i had taken a customer
*just like this one* and given him a message saying that my phone was
not in service due to the hurricane....

you can get this same service for free, from www.youmail.com
sounds like it might come in handy for you.

i have found that if you only have one customer like this, and are
wondering where to get more of them, like to complete a matched
set or something, you can get a ready supply at www.craigslist.org

hope this helps...... :p

the part about him finishing the work is the deal killer

I had a ciruit court judge who wanted us to wire certain parts of his project (small job) and then he would finish it - well he had trouble doing his part and then blamed it on uf for not leaving it exactly the way he wanted so he could take over

he had no problem scolding me on the phone for the guy not leaving slack in the wire so he could pull it up and down without re-spicing it

what a mess - for no money

now you know where the term "cut him some slack" came from.

Time and material, billed at the end of every day. No problem.

Both billed AND paid at the end of each day. And if you want me to come in and do it the way it SHOULD have been done in the beginning, before you scabbed it up, get ready to take out that second mortgage.........
