I was wondering how some of you charge to install a temp service for new construction of residential homes. Do you just charge for time? Maybe the cost of all materials even though you reuse the temp on the next job? Or maybe a large upfront fee like $5000 to insure they are not using you to get power to the job while they shop around for an electrician that might be cheaper? Any comments?

We rent temp power poles as a sideline to our EC business. We charge $300.00 to deliver the pole dig the hole (4' deep for an overhead feed pole & 3' deep for an under ground feed pole), set the pole, drive the ground rod, and retrieve the pole when finished. We charge $40/month rent also. We don't care who wires the project the pole rental is always charged. Our overhead feed poles are 6"x6"x20' and are equipt with a 100amp service and all the outlets needed.

$300 bucks built into the price of the job, and I don't really care if I get the socket back or not. At $300 it is a money loser, but lets talk about those recess lights you wanted in the kitchen Mrs. Blindsides. :)
