We are asked to provide temp wiring
One rough is completed
They would like string of lights removed
Transfering power to new recess cans
Problem is Recessed cans are inline with receptacles
They are all capped off And virtually safe if we leave on for sheetrockers ( which i perfer not to) they worry about their routers striking a wire in box
Any suggestions on how to leave this for illumination and safety
Might go off topic ( due to jokers 😬)
But lets see where it goes For a page or to

There's not a ton of outlets to get to the switch for the cans I'm sure. Like 15 at most just tie them through and put a switch on with no plaster ears and you're good to go. That's a pretty common thing to be asked to do especially on remodels.

I would ensure that the receptacle conductors are tucked back in the boxes and turn the thing on. As letgo said this is pretty common.

I do that all the time
Just seeing what others do
Once we remove temp lights He can turn on if he wants If he complsins i will lock out

I temp all the lights in for almost every job I do.

Same same - tie thru receps and cut the ears off any devices installed

I never get any wires nicked because my makeup is real clean, centered in the box, and back about an inch from the front edge of the box.

But every single time I get help and I don't correct their makeup, it gets torn up. Every time.

Here are my two points of blame:

The guy(s) making up boxes need to do a much better job making sure the wires aren't in a typical rotozip depth. It's worth firing over, imho because it's just not that hard

Drywallers need to be better at working the front edges of boxes, cans, etc - making everything hot will go a long way toward this.

here's one of mine, not tied thru

This is not a joke. I find it funny that they admitted they are probably going to damage your wiring and they are asking you to assist them.

been a long time but I always remember one particular job, I knew I had folded wires tight to back of box until my fingers bled

went to trim out, wires near front of box with a lot of rotozip damage

turns out carpenters were using bare copper ground to pierce caulk or glue cartridges, they just pulled out of whatever box they were closest to. I always push bares to back of box 1st, so pulling out the bare also pulled out white and black

one of the many times I've been tempted to make everything hot on roughin
