I Have A Customer Who Wants To Re-install A Gas Pump For Motor Boats On His Dock, But He Needs It Temporary As The Dock Is Dismantled Before Winter And Everything Goes Into Storage! The Old Installation Was Done With An Extension Cord! Our Local Building And Electrical Inspector Don't Want To Give Any Advice And Do Not Seem To Want To Help In Any Way. Anyone Have A Suggestion??
Thanks,

I don't have any suggestions your friend will like.

590.2(A) makes clear that temporary installations must meet the parts of the code not directly modified by Article 590.

If your customer is smart, he will pay you to come out at the change of seasons to do the re-installs or dismantling back to a suitable location.

If he's not smart and is trying to save money, he'll eventually hack it in himself, someone will get hurt and he'll have bigger problems than a few hours of service call.

Happens all the time. Try to convince him to be smart.

This does not seem like a big deal to me.

put the pump on a section of the dock that can be taken apart in one piece along with all the seals. It would only need to be ten feet long. Install a jbox on the non-classified side where the wires can be disconnected.

I don't think it qualifies as an article 590 temporary installation in any case.

It might not be, which means there is no relaxation of the rules at all. Not there was to much to start with.

I think the section would need to be 20 feet, not ten. I tried to edit my post, but did not notice the mistake until the ten minute window had passed.

Make sure that the docks are sectional docks with some movement between sections, then wire with Type W or G flexible power cable as permitted by 501.10(B)(2)(5) and 555.13(A)(2).

Well, there's this

or this

or finding a way to make part of the dock permanent, or maybe a shed off shore with the pump in it and a really long hose.

Sorry, that's all I have at the moment.

Why not a permanent installation and provide a means of easily disconnecting equipment for dismantling?
