Temporary lighting

Years ago I was working on a high-rise in NYC. When we installed temporary lighting we used 10/4 Romex for the stringers that we hung after the floors had been poured and were being readied for work. We made our own temporary light stringers as needed, and the sockets that we used were designed with "left handed" threads to accept "left handed" incandecent lamps (75 watt I believe). Has anyone else used "left handed" lamps before?

I am curious because we are always upgrading our temporary lighting techniques, and was wondering if anyone has seen "left handed" "screw-in" flourescent lamps that are currently available. A 20 amp circuit should be able to handle a whole lot more of these flourescent lamps than the standard incandescents.

(The left handed lamps were used to cut down on the theft of the lamps)

Would CFLs be legal in temp light strings as they considered hazardous when broken?

Is this a problem? :-?

You gotta head east someday George

If the thing can be stolen [doesn't really matter what "it" is] it will be.

"Folks" would take the lamps right out the temp under the scaffolding:

The temp is typically run in EMT w/left-hand thread sockets/lamps w/"peanut butter jars" in the hopes it will last more than the weekend.
