I was brought to my attention that in the string lights on the construction site, I have to support to the ceiling in each light fixture. I look into NEC . 590, I couldn't find what is the space support requirement. My lights are at 6' apart. Please advise.

Zip ties? Doesn't each light have a hook or hanger on it anyway? (sorry, been over 15 years since I've run a string of temp lighting)

Isn't there a section on temporary lighting? Carnival / Holiday / Construction?? No more that xxx days?
Do your lights have a 'messenger wire' so the conductors aren't holding the load of the lamps?

590.4
(J) Support. Cable assemblies and flexible cords and cables
shall be supported in place at intervals that ensure that they
will be protected from physical damage. Support shall be in the
form of staples, cable ties, straps, or similar type fittings installed
so as not to cause damage. Cable assemblies and flexible
cords and cables installed as branch circuits or feeders shall not
be installed on the floor or on the ground. Extension cords
shall not be required to comply with 590.4(J). Vegetation shall
not be used for support of overhead spans of branch circuits or
feeders.

Nothing is said about the lighting itself but back when temporary lighting was a string of incandescent lights support wasn't an issue. Now it's common to have a LED fixtures which can be heavy and should be supported properly to the structure.

Try over at 527.4 under supports, or was that moved to 590
