Anyone know where I can find the max tensile load of typ. galvy 1/4-20, and 3/8-16 rod? I had them at one point but dang link is toast.....

Demins for Stainless 304 & 316.... Anyway I have seached several different combos of words but come up with crap..... I remember it took me some time to get it before for Dottie rods - which I figure are typical of the low ball end - and I can easily get the tensile and shear values of many fasteners for bolt or rod instalation - just not the rod itself.....

Type in page 250 of 314. Looks like 240 and 610 lbs respectively.
The B-Line strut catalog might have rod capacities in the index too, but that one is out in the truck.:smile:

I have hung 50' of 1000a busduct hanging in a demo by 1 -3/8 rod and it did not drop until I cut about 3/4 of the way through it 30 ft in the air. It registered about an 8 on the richter scale when it hit the floor. All of the safety ropes my boss rigged snapped imediately. It was one of the few times I refused to cut the rods until I moved the scaffold out from under it. He ridiculed me but I stood my ground and told him to go cut the last rod. I was glad I did as it would have collapsed the scaffold from the weight. He was a lousy rigger.

Ah ha!!!!!! Thank you so very much..... I can now keep a few hairs on my puny head..... FYI I already searched my aged B-line catalog to no avail, and searched the Erico site as well.
I have always called it 200, and 500 for those, and have gone on that for years, but a GC I'm working with wanted to see something typ. (since I dont know the brand of rod) in writing to settle his own head - which means I can settle mine.
Situation - need a trapeze to hang a box, and then independant of box.... hang a 200# custom bronze fixture. So the two 3/8 rod the trapeze are on are good, and it seems the two 1/4 rods through the box too. Cool beans.
