Hello all,

This is my first post and looking fwd to a reply. I was at work today there was a discussion over transformer breaker and Generator breaker, During the discussion the term "Ground Breaker" was used. Can any one describe the purpose and use of this term?

Thanks,

A "ground breaker" is the ceremony they have when they are going to build a new building. :D

Seriously though, I have no idea what that could mean. It doesn't make any electrical sense.

I think that the term is a "conversational English" description (i.e., slang) for a device intended to fulfull the requirements of 230.95 (Ground Fault Protection for Equipment).

I do would agree with barber and charlie b, it more likely slang. How the term was used in the discussion could give you clue what was meant.
