What do you call the conduit/raceway from the top of the meter to the weatherhead?
I hear "mast" and "riser", neither have a definition in the NEC that I can find.
So, when is it a mast and when is it a riser, or is there a difference?

I've always called a GRC that is used for the connection of the service drop a mast. An EMT up a wall where the service drop is connected to the structure I've called a riser.

ETA I think attached is a better word than connected.

Mast is mentioned in 230.28 but we always called it riser.

A mast goes from the meter up to the drip loop or point of interconnect.
A riser is internal to a building for the wiring in between floors. Riser cable has some restrictions like plenum rated cables if I’m not mistaken.

It is a "raceway containing service conductos". May or may not also be supporting the service drop or overhead service conductors.

I believe the word "mast" does appear in NEC but is not an NEC defined term.

In my mind I like to think service mast. Suits me well lol

The way I've always used those terms:

Mast is the pipe from meter can to weatherhead.

Riser is any vertical conduit. The mast is a riser.
