I recently installed the Tesla gen 3 wall charger, no problem. Works great. I just realized I forgot to do one thing. After I held it up on the wall and drilled my pilot holes into the stud for mounting I forgot to enlarge the holes in the plastic base to 1/4' before final mounting. Is that going to be an issue? I'm thinking the enlarged holes are either to give some adjustment for straightening or to relive any pressure for extreme temp or wall shifting.

Is this a plastic base plate that the guts of the charger hang from?
What size holes came in the base?

Yes, this is the plastic base, I drilled the base out with a smaller bit probably 5/32's and also went as deep into the stud as possible. My main concern is by not enlarging the hole will this cause the plastic base plate to crack over time. Guess I'm just overly paranoid, it's in and works as advertised.

The instructions don’t say anything about leaving the mounting screws loose to allow for movement, so I think you’re fine. The 1/4” clearance hole recommendation is likely just to ensure ease of installation.

It says to use a 5/32” bit for a pilot hole in the stud. If you used that for drilling the base, the screws likely had “bite” in the plastic, but if everything mounted up clean, I think you’re fine.
