From PSI practice test, What is the minimum size copper conductor permitted for use for a 6,000 volt service? Answer is 6AWG. Where is a code reference to sizing wire based on voltage?

Never heard of a 6000V service. You don't size wires based on voltage, you size them based on amperage. I've taken about nine PSI exams and never seen that question.

I think that since many of us don't deal with it on a regular basis that we tend to overlook the over 1000 volt stuff. IMO the 6000 volts is just there for confusion.

How about 310.106(A) and Table 310.106(A).

At 5001 to 8000 Volts the minimum copper conductor size is #6.
