Testing Lightning Protection

Is their a set way of inspecting and testing a building lightning protection system or can you test it like any other grounding system.

All of the ones I have done were inspected by a company rep with a visual only inspection of all grounding and air terminal placement

I believe that UL is the only folks that can certify an LPS for a structure, especially for insurance purposes. It is certainly possible to do your own testing as far as ground resistance, but I would ask for what reason are you testing?

Is this a straight grounding system, or are you employing some type of surge arresters also?
