Is anyone else (Electrical Contractors) experiencing the crunch. Things have slowed down for us! Heck, we are only getting one call per day (since the last month)! :(

I heard a couple guys talking about how busy they are (Cabinet and title guys---both are owners). The cabinet guy must be busy---seeing that I heard the stress in his voice, when I told him he cover my electrical box.

Thank goodness we got rid of SM, or we would be out of business:rolleyes:

Hope things pick up!

mostly commercial, but some residential service calls, I dont do new residential or rewires, I think the guys that do are hurting around here...

i've got stuff to do. I've been putting in about 20hrs/wk on the jobsite, which is okay because that's what I budget for. I'm not slammed like I was. It seems that just when I think the work is about to run out, something else always comes in; then it'll snowball for a week or two and then back to normal.

Work here in Central Florida is slow for the residential. Some Ec's from what I hear are going under. Thats too bad. I take day by day. I'm a small shop but I still have allot of overhead. Some weeks are good and some slow. Sometimes you wonder how are you going to make it. Just keep positive. Positive affirmation.

As a inspector, we get to see the 'dirty laundry' sort of...
I see the residential market in lower NY as being very slow. There are contractors who we have not seen for inspections for quite a while. I am sure that smaller jobs are definitely not being filed for.

The commercial sector here is very very busy. It has kept our office busy enough.
If not for the commercial end, it would be slow here period.

I guess it's obvious who's still keeping busy!! Residential took a big hit! Thanks to lending companies!!!

They are saying that more banks will be going down within the next year. One guy says: Do Not have over 100,000 in any one bank--regardless of what your bank tells you. I guess I'm safe! :D

Changed to commercial a while back since the residential is dead around here. Just laid off again this past week.

Sorry to hear that! Hopefully you'll find a job soon!

Thank You.

I've put in over 12 appplications this past week. Not many EC's hiring right now. I have a Class A CDL with Haz-Mat and Tanker endorsements so I am leaning toward driving once again. Waiting on DOT records to come back on some recent applications.

Thanks to lending companies!!!

Congress pushing Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac to set standards for loans permitting everyone to live the American Dream a home owner, though it appears not everyone should.

People over extending themselves for the mega-house.

Commission based lending agents.

People taking too much of a risk with their own future. Everyone in the business from the real estate agent to the lending firm will qualify you into having no money in you pocket for a hair cut. You/we/them need to learn to JUST SAY NO.
