The need to pull a permit

I need to know if there are any electricians in union county, north Carolina. That can give me some info on the need to pull an electrical permit verses a general contractor permit. Would the electrical be covered under a general permit, it a 1300 square foot, residential property, that will be zoned commercial. I live in Augusta Georgia, and do not know how things operate up that way, is there any one who can help with this little issue, thank you

If a General Contractor is involved he/she will carry you under the building permit but the job must have an electrical permit attached and it will need to include your license number.

Does NC reciprocate with GA?
No they don't, I thought it possible if I was not going to upgrade the service, then I could get around it. The work will be changing the lighting, outlets, etc..ill do some research on it in the nec.in Augusta Georgia where I live, I could get around it possibly,

I can only tell what I know.

JWs from VA can work in NC, but only if the EC they work for has the NC unlimited master contractor license.

They do check tradesmen cards in metro areas.

The NEC does not have anything to do with licensing rules. If you have a Class II Unrestricted Georgia license you can reciprocate with NC, if not you are out of luck.

Do ECs still have to pass the NC exam?

I ask because my old boss, A VA EC, gave me a binder with a practice NC exam but I never asked him if he had to take the actuall exam.

If they do not have a license that can be reciprocated they do have to take the NC exam.

North Carolina municipalities are under the state rules, research the links I posted. There are some "Fire Districts" that have rules over and above but that has nothing to do with licensing and permitts.

Keep looking and good luck but, the GC or whoever will have to answer to someone at state level.

Keep in mind just because State (or even local AHJ's) A recriprocates with States B and C, doesn't mean they will accept a recriprocated license from D to B, you actually need to pass the B exam to recriprocate it to A.

Hope that wasn't too confusing.
