I have an odd kitchen layout....

What we have is a 50A wall oven with a 20A micro above it. No problem.

Then we have a gas cook top with a hood above it ~ no MW on this hood as far as I have been informed.

Can I put the hood and cooktop on the SABC?
210.52(B)(2)Exception 2
Receptacles installed to provide power for supplemental equipment and lighting on gas-fired ranges, ovens, or counter-mounted cooking units.
Would these "supplemental equipment and lighting" include BOTH the cooktop ignitor AND the hood's lights?

Hmmmm Did you read 422.16 in it's entirety? I have yet to have a hood fan that I have installed be a flexible cord plug in when it was not part of a mw installation. I disagree. It is acceptable.

I have to disgree and agree with Mike Whitt. Art. 210.52 (B) is pretty clear to me. There is no exception for a range hood.

I believe the supplemental equipment and lighting must both be on the gas range, ovens or counter mounted cooking units. There is no comma after supplemental equipment. I think they are talking about a range ignitor, or even a downdraft motor that is part of the range. It would seem the range hood would be fine but I don't read it that way.

I think I may be grasping at straws ... "supplemental equipment and lighting on gas-fired".

What's another 20' of 14/2?
Not worth the arguement with the EI.

Would it be acceptable to put BOTH the cooktop ignitor AND the hood on a general 15A circuit?

I figure it's whole lot less embarassing to ask these questions here rather than have the EI say "WTF were you thinking?" LOL

Thanks all.
