A generator has a seperate fuel tank 15' Away that is not hard piped but has rubber fuel lines. What rules of grounding apply? And if it was hard piped with galvanized steel would there be different rules?:

The generator needs to be grounded.

IMO, metal piping connecting the generator to the tank might well effectively ground the tank. Rubber hoses obviously would not.

I am not sure there is an absolute need to ground the fuel tank in either case. It would depend on information you have not provided.
