In the beginnig:

Before the dawn of super posters, before so much wisdom, and knowlege and insight....What was there?

A void you ask?

When the forum began, with the twinkling of an idea, to what is is now....what happend?

Some of us missed a lot of history. In the beginning, was it just four or five of you sitting in front of computers....waiting?

It certainly has come a long way from it's inception....do any of you long standing members care to share it's history? It's growing pains?

Who were it's first members? And how did you get here?

Each new member stands on your shoulders....Do tell.

In the beginning, it was said: "let there be light" and an electrician spoke up and said: "You talking to me?" ;)

That was me.

I'm not saying I'm old, but I was around when God invented dirt. Fact is, I wired the factory used to produce dirt.

FYI, St. Peter was such a precocious child.....

In the beginning the child asked, "why?"

The parent said, "That's just the way it is. Now, eat your breakfast."

I had a different user name when I first started to post here. The site, if I'm remembering right, was called NEC Connection, or something like that. I think I first posted around year 2000. edit... just checked, it was 2003 when I first posted. I guess I changed to my real name a year or so later.

Before this The method was the second tuesday of every month was the local inspectors chapter monthly meeting at the polish hall in riverhead. The open bar and bowling was sponsored by the local supply houses and fun was had by all. You got free eats free drinks lots of free goodies and free raffles from the supply houses and bowling only 2 lanes. You got to ask the local inspectors what they wanted to see as you were clicking bottle tops. Cheers Big Ears. They would warn those that attended of any policy or code changes that were a frequent problem for them. The only problem was that it was on the same night as the local union meeting. Tough decision you decide. I still wonder why I never got knocked down???? hmmmmmmmm Some local contractors required all of thier employees to attend or they would be terminated.

To which he added: "Do I need to pull a permit?"

...dang & I was just talking about the reliability and speed of this site now. Lost my post.

Can't remember when I first signed on but it was back in the days of dial up. The connections on my end were horribly slow and unreliable.

One of the problems was "stray voltage" in dairies. I was a bit put off when EEs only were asked to respond. I had also asked a long drawn out question about the affects of cat urine vapor on a range circuit board. Mike was honest. He did not know.

I came back about 2 yrs ago (?). The site has changed for the better and is a lot more open. The improved speed of connection and, usually, reliability has helped considerably.

At first, it was very hard to find this forum. So I sent an e-mail to Mike Holt and suggested that he place a link to it on the main page.
He replied that this was a good idea and he would do it. Since then, this forum has blossomed and it is all because of me.
Accepting thanks in retrospect,
~Peter

Very good Peter.

I think I've been here scince 01. (there have been two or three earlier versions)

For those that weren't here when Bennie Palmer, Glenn Zieseniss, Ed Maclarren, and some others were participating, you missed some of the best.

Roger

I don't really remember how I found this site. I was a member of the IAEI forum, but they changed it and it wasn't very user friendly so I stopped visiting it. I think I was looking for some info and clicked on here and stayed.

I smile because I'm here, I laugh because there's nothing you can do about it. Well maybe Bob or Roger can, but the rest of you.....HAHAHAHAHA.

I can't say I remember Glen but I certainly remember and miss both Ed and Bennie.

Are you saying that the man, the myth, the legend, Mike, used to respond and post here?

I checked this stat on the way in tonight:

45,347 Members

1,915 Active Members

For you moderators: Any of you here from the beginning? Were you asked to fill that role?

I think the first time I found this site was in 2002 or 2003. It was different. Didn't have much to add...
Connection was very slow (dial-up), also had a different user name...

I remember Bennie and Ed. Great posters, always very informative.

I'm not saying you're old, all I'm saying is that you shook hands with Adam and Eve.

If you're an inspector, I'm not saying you're old, all I'm saying is that you signed off on Adam and Eve.

I would personally like to thank each and every member, every moderator, and of course, Mike Holt for making it the wonderful success that it is.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I need to wipe some brown stuff of my nose. ;)
