Stage lighting hoist using flexible SC cables are used for lights that move up and down with motors. Now if the same lights, on the same type of bar are installed in the same theater, however they are installed on chain, without motors, should they also have SC cable or is this a fixed fixture and require EMT? We have done this install with SC and passed, however recently failed inspection and was told to use EMT. We used SC because there are so many moving components around the lights that eventually they will be hit, moved and so on. From what I have found we just need to check with the local inspector because there doesn't seem to be a clear definition for this.
