Thermal switch built into motor windings failure

I have a 10hp single phase aeration fan motor 3450 RPM on grain bin that I think has a thermal switch or switches built into the windings that have failed. I had a short happen on the thermal switch control circuit that burnt them out. Can these be easily replaced in the field or if not can I use a overload heater relay or similar and still have the same protection. What is my best option at this point?

Normally a motor that size is not worth repairing, but 10 hp single phase is a very large single phase. Did the winding protector leave a open or closed circuit?
