Thermostat wiring

To comply with ADA requirements , I have to lower down existing thermostat by 6" . Is it possible to splice low voltage wiring of thermostat? Or do i need to run new wiring all the way from AC to thermostat ?

You can splice it. If the splice goes bad you may have an issue if it is not accessible.
