OMG they are advertising on TV, the Power Save 1200, sending that unused power power back to the utility. Ever feel the heat coming off an appliance well the Power Save 1200 captures this energy and sends it back to the utility.

If one works will two be better?

Where to heck is the Consumer Protection Agency on this one?

Bob I do not disagree, BUT there is a bit of a snake oil twist here

"UL/CSA Listed", many consumers take this as a blessing of a product.

BBB on line (?) sticker, another possible consumer iondication of a GOOD PRODUCT.

A "Report" form Dept of Energy.

Hey our taxes (justly or unjustly) go into paying for these protection agencies how bout they do something, lead from china, defective toys and snake oil scams.....

Seems this would be a cut and dry case, Well at least from my perspective.

Funny thing it looks just like a leviton surge arrestor.

Now that would be funny if it were a re-labeled device. But more than likely the same box manufacture or similar.

The indicator light in the corner, and they say "surge arrestor". I think all it is is a surge arrestor, and that is how they get the UL listing. How it "saves energy" is still a question I would love to hear the answer to.

Everyone who thinks a capacitor is a magical source of free energy forgets that the thing has to be charged between every discharge, twice per cycle.

I was in contact with the company some months ago, and they promised to send me documentation from the US Department of Energy, University of Santa Clara, NASA, and Honeywell about how their products did in their testing. To date, I have not received anything.

EDIT... I see the "national authorized installer" is Mr. Electric. Business is business, I suppose. I'd put one in for a customer if they wanted it. Just don't ask me what I think about it. In the end, 299 isn't too shabby for a surge arrestor.

It's Billy Mayes and if you have his home address I will be happy to go over there and rip out his voice box.

OMG that guy drives me nuts (Mr Shammie). I bet they found him at the gun show, wood show, scrap book, circuit, selling knife sharpening sticks.

I found this:

and this:

http://blogs.ebay.com/bandegifts/entry/Power-Save-1200-is-a-scam/_W0QQidZ385942017

along with site after site promoting and selling the product.

One question. Does a watt meter measure watts or volt amps? If we are only charged for watts, what difference does it make if measured amperage shows a decrease, at least to the customer?

Another. What would happen if current was measured on the other side of the meter?

I smell snake oil too.

Indeed, the Power Save 1200 is actually just a capacitor in a box. The technology behind it is that of ?power factor correction,? which has been used in industrial settings for many years. In fact, many other companies already market similar products. There is no way in hell, however, it is going to save the average residential user anywhere near 25 percent on their power bills. In fact, it has been documented that these kinds of units can be expected to save a mere nine cents for every $60 a homeowner spends on electricity. This certainly does not justify the $300 price tag on the PS1200.

this is not the first time Michael Forster has been the CEO of a public company. Prior to being the president of Power Save Corp., he was the chief executive officer (and only employee, again) of Power Save Energy Corp. Yes, this is actually a different company. Power Save Energy Corp was previously listed under the ticker PWVG and at the time Mr. Forster apparently tried to get people to buy stock by promising shareholders free PS1200 units. As you can probably guess, PWVG did not end well. Mr. Forster resigned in October of 2006 and sold all of his stock, leaving his shareholders holding the bag.

I'm with Brian on this. After all, even "www.freecreditreport.com" is ONLY free IF you activate their "credit protection service."

So, start advertizing FREE ELECTRICAL INSTALLATIONS (with the purchase of our home electrical audit services, which cost far more than anything you'll recommed.)
