I see NEC table 310.4 A list THHN for DAMP or dry locations but not for wet locations

However home depot product description list their THHN for wet locations. I thought wet listed wire had to include a W suffix in its abbreviated listing such as THHW if listed for wet locations?

The Home Depot description is incomplete. THHN wire is not rated for use in wet locations, but the HD description doesn't tell you that the wire is more than just THHN.

As @LarryFine states, most (if not all) THHN wire carries _multiple_ certifications, meaning that it meets the requirements for several different wire types.

If you go to the manufacturer's brochure linked from the HD page, you will see that the wire is 'THHN/THWN-2/MTW/AWM' (at least for the stranded versions). So in a wet location you would treat the wire as THWN-2 and not worry about it.

But if you actually came across wire that only had the THHN markings on it, you couldn't use it in a wet location.
