I'm considering purchasing the NEC 2005 CD/DVD as well as the handbook. I would like some opinions on the usefulness of the CD/DVD.
Thanks

I enjoy my CD-ROM, it includes 1999 and 2002 code plus the 2002 Handbook.

You can do keyword searches which is a big help.

Ditto Bob's comment. I use mine all the time and now feel lost that I don't have the electronic version of the 2005. As soon as I get one, I will load the 2002 on my home computer. :D

I miss having the NEC on CDROM. My present company has access to all NFPA standards on-line, but the search engine that comes with the CD is much easier to use.

Re: Thinking of buying the NEC 2005 CD/DVD

I don't really like the search feature for the NEC cd-rom.

I mean I find what I need. But, I would rather have a search function more like Google or another online search engine.

With the knowledge of course that people couldn't screw up a built in search engine.

The other thing is getting a compacted version to work with a Folio Viewer on my PPC. Has anyone gotten that to work?

I intend to purchase the CD version. I also have the PDF version of the 2002 NEC on my PDA. With Acrobat Reader 6.02, you are permitted to have up to 4 copies. The PDA "find" is very slow, but it is still useful enough for me to feel it's worth it. I'll probably buy the 2005 PDF version when California adopts it.

I have the "99" and the "2002" on this computer and the PDF's on my PDA but when I don't have it with me I'm lost (or should I say spoiled  ) As to look something up in the book can be frustrating. :D

Trust me after you get used to looking up codes on the computer you will have a hard time going back to the book.
