Re: This should help Diys

That looks like a typical scenerio one would find in places like Australia where the red wire is considered "hot" and the black wire is not.

Re: This should help Diys

I woked with a guy who was new to this country form one of those island countrys in the atlantic. i think it was trinidad. he had five years experience so we were not watching him to close. after a week i noticed him putting the black wire on the larger terminal on a duplex rec.

he told me that black was neutral in his country.
we had to open every device in the building because noone could remember who wired what?

Re: This should help Diys

Exactly. Those areas use the black as the "grounded" wire, much the same as you would find when dealing with things like automotive wiring.

Re: This should help Diys

The Step 2 picture seems to have the fixture's black wire lined up with the building's red wire, and the fixture's white wire lined up with the building's black wire. So the wiring will be correct, and the DIY will know what to do, right? ;)

Are there different size terminals on receptacles?

yes, if you look at the face of any rec one side is larger. intended for the grounded conductor. lamp cords are similarly configured so that the screw shell is on the grounded conductor as well.

Only if he is in another country, and probably connecting to 240 Volts @ 50 Htz.

Ok I'll give you that but I would not call it a terminal.
