Thoughts On Pulling head

Merry Christmas
Good concept for short easy pulls. Obviously it needs more tape to keep those ends from catching the inside of the raceway or the bushing when it comes out.

That is exactly how I set up a pull of large conductors. watch out for the abrupt edge where the wires were severed. Grind them down. more tape. Use a dirty sock or rag coated in lube.

We used to make the pulling head exactly like OP posted. Although for the last 20+ years, I have used kellem grips. (I never referred to it as a pulling sock, either, Alwayslearningelelec)

I also have used mule tape and tied a hitch that a poco lineman taught me years ago.

With the amount of labor you are paying, I'd get the pulling heads installed at the supply house.

Throw on a sister hook or clevis and your pulling.

I'd also buy the Simpull flange for the reels to make it easier on the crew.

I use these Flemish eyes for all kinds of stuff and not only wire rope.

The swedged on thimble really isn't the strength. The strength is pretty much all in the woven eye. Old timers wrapped the ends with wire or even tape. Way superior to those U bolt clips
