were can you find out how much weight threaded rod can hold vertically. ie how much can I hang off it.

Re: threaded rod

you also have to consider the strength of the nuts, washers, spring nuts, drive anchors etc.

The weakest link is what you can load on the system.

Re: threaded rod

Your design stregth would typically be twice the working weight. I have seen specs for siesmic restraint that required the conduit weight to be determined by it being considered full of water.
Probably the weakest link will be the anchor if its a concrete ceiling....

Re: threaded rod

The B-Line catalog used to have some good information on rod strength, suports, safety factors etc.. Try an on-line search.

Re: threaded rod

This is from T & Bs SuperStrut catalog:
1/4 150 lbs.
3/8 610
1/2 1130
5/8 1810
3/4 2710
7/8 3770
1" 4960
I personally prefer 3/8".
