Re: three phase color coding and reference

Hey guys, actualy Brown Orange Yellow is a requirement of 517.160.

Although not directly dealing with three phase, one other color requirement (there are more) is Article 424.35 Yellow for 120 v, Blue 208 v, Red 240 v, Brown 277 v, and Orange 480 v

Re: three phase color coding and reference

Great, Roger, let's take a specific, highly specialised section of the code and apply it to the entire code! I can hardly wait to see the inspectors' expression as I explain why I'm using orange for my neutrals (517.160(A)(5))!
Better yet, let's apply the color codes for heat tape (424.35).
A little knowledge is a dangerous thing.

Re: three phase color coding and reference

Just remember if your in San Francisco they will not permit the high leg of a 120/240 delta system to orange. They require it to be purple. SF always has to be different. :)
